What better than a nice cold shower on a warm day? Gasping under the deluge at Wilton Park is 12-year-old Vincent Gardner, while his friend performs the “operation”. Vincent and John Ward, who lived in Healds Road, Dewsbury, were just two of the many people from Dewsbury who visited Batley Park.
HECKMONDWIKE fire station was axed amid a storm of protest in the autumn of 1984. The station had been established 150 years earlier and was believed to be the first in West Yorkshire.
