Helen Bolton

What are you up to now?
I am now a regional sales manager for Shearings Holidays, which I have done for seven years, and previous to that I worked overseas for many years as a holiday representative.

Do you still live locally?
I live in Shelley, Huddersfield, with my husband Simon, who I met in 2000 at a bus stop and married in 2004. We married in the Grand Canyon and the Mirfield Reporter did a great feature on our wedding.

How old are you?
I am 35 years old.

Do you have any children?
No children

What was your reaction at seeing your picture on our website?
My parents told me about the feature as they still live in Mirfield and get the paper, that I then read. I was really surprised and it certainly brought a smile to my face. It is unbelievable that it is coming up to 20 years ago, however it didn’t feel like that at all.

What are your memories of the Miss Enterprise competition?
I have great memories of the competition. From the voting stage, interviews at Heath Cottage Hotel and then getting into the final on stage at the Frontier. It was a great experience and I felt proud of my achievements and still do.

What made you enter?
I entered for the experience really and thought I had what it took to be Miss Enterprise. The competition did give you the confidence and experience which is good at that age. I was really pleased to get in to the finals. To then be runner up in front of my friends and family was amazing. I can still remember it now. It also led to modelling and promotional work which I did whilst I was at college, before I went to work overseas.
